Heiko Kabutz
Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student in the "Animal Inspired Movement and Robotics Laboratory" (AIMRL) under Prof. Kaushik Jayaram at University of Colorado Boulder.
Collaborating and networking to advance designing and building of complex machines. Through my intense involvement in engineering, science and robotics, I have developed my leadership skills, technical abilities and global perspectives. By innovating and designing original concepts I have learnt to move into the forefront of technology. I aspire to use robotics for finding creative solutions for challenges of the future generation.
My research focus is on the mechanical development, design and manufacturing of insect scale compliant robot platforms. I have an interest in legged movement mechanisms for small scale robotics, specifically in connection to animal biology. Recent work has focused on spider locomotion.
Additionally I have a passion for anything that requires balance and the outdoors, spending my free time downhill unicycling, whitewater kayaking or climbing.
